Early in December Timeship and the rest of Resource Distribution got the pleasure of hosting the inaugural Rumble at the Ranch.
LET THE RUMBLE BEGIN!! RUMBLE AT THE RANCH (R.A.T.R) IS A ONE OF A KIND, WEB BASED, WILD WEST STYLE SKATEBOARD RACE BEING HELD AT AN UNDISCLOSED LOCATION IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA. YOU’LL BE ABLE TO WATCH SOME OF THE WORLD’S BEST DOWNHILL SKATEBOARDERS GOING HEAD-TO-HEAD ON AN INSANELY FAST, TECHNICAL PRIVATE ROAD FOR THE SINGLE LARGEST DOWNHILL SKATEBOARD RACE PURSE. A $5000 WINNER TAKE-ALL CASH BOUNTY. THAT’S RIGHT, WINNER TAKE ALL!
The buzz began to spread through the Downhill Community on who was invited, who was going and most importantly who was going to win the Rumble. Finally race day had come, as did the worst weather SoCal has seen in years, The conditions of the track we’re less than ideal. Organizers rushed to clean the track from a few mudslides and arrange bales for the wet conditions. Riders arrived having no clue what to expect, on the first time up the hill they were unanimously blown away with the track.
Practice was delayed a bit so the track would have a little bit of time to dry. Once Practice was underway, riders familiarized themselves with the course and we’re ready for qualifying to enter the 32 man Call out bracket. There were a few upsets, but overall qualifying ensured the best riders and most entertaining heats for filming.
16 Names were to be drawn at random, as the names were pulled the riders we’re allowed to call out anyone left in the pool. Some riders made heavy callouts, some picked who they thought were easy to beat and others opted to not call anyone out and just have another name pulled from the hat.
Once Racing was underway The bracket shrunk quickly, only 5 rounds vs. the best in the world to get to the finals. Jimmy Riha was solid as can be all day, and he eventually made it into the finals vs. Micah Green.
When the Dust settled Jimmy Riha was Crowned the Rumble at the Ranch Champion, and awarded $5,000. Always great to see a Timeship Racer on the top. The best gloves in the world, for the best riders.
